One-Upsmanship

P012098Worship this Sunday, October 27th at 10 am will include the reading of Jesus parable of the Pharisee, thankful he was not like the tax collector; scripture found in Luke 18:9-14  to be read by Ron Francis. Rev. Cheryl Meachen’s sermon, entitled, “One-Upsmanship” will explore the role humility plays in our Christian lives. Laity Sunday

laity sundayWorship this Sunday, October 20th at 10 am will celebrate Laity Sunday. Lay Leader Douglas Reed will lead the service which will include a dramatic retelling by Mary Anne and Dennis Deer of the parable of the widow and the judge; scripture found in Luke 18:1-8. Jenny Hinton will share a reflection based on Miranda Lambert’s country song, “All Kinds of Kinds.” Mary Anne Deer, Patti French, Leslie Kramsky, Jean MacLean, Betty Stacy and Cheryl Meachen will present “billowing” (liturgical dance using long bands of cloth) to the “Servant Song.” A double duet with Jane Clarke, Patti French, Lillian Hellinger and Betty Stacy will sing “My Best Friend.” Leslie Kramsky will present the Children’s Message. Members are encouraged to stay for a potluck lunch and our Annual Church Conference with District Superintendent Brigid Farrell following worship. The Thankful Leper

thankfulWorship this Sunday, October 13th at 10 am will include the reading of Jesus healing ten lepers and only one returning to thank him; scripture found in Luke 17:11-19 to be read by Jane Clarke. Rev. Cheryl Meachen’s sermon, entitled, “The Thankful Leper” will explore the gift of gratitude. Eleanor Vanderpool will sing Bless this House. Our monthly Wishing Well offering will be dedicated to the Alzheimer’s Foundation in memory of Kay Emond.  The church is located at 18 Town Crier Drive off Putney Road and is handicap-accessible. Doing Faith Until You Have It

Worship this Sunday, October 6th at 10 am is a celebration of World Communion Sunday. It Mustard-Seed-Faith-by-CRIwill include the reading of Jesus’ teaching of faith the size of a tiny mustard seed moving mulberry trees into the sea; scripture found in Luke 17:5-10 to be read by Douglas Reed. Rev. Cheryl Meachen’s sermon, entitled, “Doing Faith Until You Have It” will explore how acknowledging and committing to a faithful relationship with God increases our faith.
