Hanging of the Greens

hotg-eventWorship this Sunday, November 30th at 10 am will include scripture from Mark 13:24-37, read by Doug Reed, describing the quality of Advent of staying alert for when Christ arrives. Kevin Mills will play the organ. Rev. Cheryl Meachen will lead a liturgy describing the meaning of the greens traditionally hung decorating the sanctuary throughout the holiday season. Holy Communion will be celebrated to which all are welcome, regardless of church affiliation. The choir, directed by Jenny Hinton will sing. Thanks-giving

thanksgivingWorship this Sunday, November 23rd at 10 am will include scripture from 2 Corinthians 9:6-15, read by Betty Stacy, a portion of Paul’s letter to the church at Corinth discussing the abundance of God’s gift. Kevin Mills will play the organ. Rev. Cheryl Meachen’s sermon entitled, “Thanks-giving” will explore the cycle of giving and receiving—how gratitude for creation inspires us to share with and care for others. Enough

Love-Is-EnoughWorship this Sunday, November 16th at 10 am will be a union service with the congregation from the Leyden MA United Methodist Church.  Scripture from Deuteronomy 6:4-25, the Shema prayer will be read by Mary Anne Deer, encouraging all to love God with whole heart, soul and might. Kevin Mills will play the organ. Marilyn Kugler will play the piano and direct a joint choir in her arrangement, a Peace Medley. Rev. Cheryl Meachen’s stewardship sermon entitled, “Enough” will explore loving God so much that nothing else is loved too much; fearing God enough that nothing else is feared; and the way this outlook breaks the grip of any possessiveness that inhibits generosity. Orphan Sunday

orphanWorship this Sunday, November 9th at 10 am will be a celebration of Orphan Sunday with a presentation by Michelle Colburn who recruits and works with foster parents at the Brattleboro Office of the Division of Children and Families. Our monthly Wishing Well offering will be received for the Christian Alliance for Orphans. Scripture from Isaiah 1:17; Psalm 68:5-6 will be read by Leslie Kramsky. Kevin Mills will play the organ.
