For Such a Time as This

estherWorship this Sunday, September 27th at 10 am will feature scripture from Esther 7:1-6, 9-10; 9:20-22 read by Jane Clarke sharing the story of Esther’s rise to queen and bringing a traitor to the king’s attention. Rev. Cheryl Meachen’s sermon, For Such a Time as This, will explore how Esther’s story informs our own: how we can capitalize on unexpected authority or influence to stop a massive injustice. The Children’s Time, titled, A Pinch of Salt based on Mark 9:50 where Jesus calls us to be salt for the world.  The choir, directed by Jenny Hinton will sing. Kevin Mills will play the organ. Religion and Justice

rich-and-poorWorship this Sunday, September 6th at 10 am will feature scripture from James 2:1-10, 14-17 read by Doug Reed sharing the insight of our propensity to favor the rich and well-dressed over the poorly dressed guest. Rev. Cheryl Meachen’s sermon, titled, Religion and Justice, will explore favoritism versus what we aspire to in right relationship. The Children’s Time, titled, He Does All Things Well based on Mark 7:37 and the people’s amazement that Jesus healed the deaf and mute.  Kevin Mills will play the organ.
