The Faith that Heals

healingWorship this Sunday, June 28th at 10 am will be a healing service. Scripture from Mark 5:21-43 will be read by Doug Reed telling the story of Jesus healing Jairus’ daughter and the bleeding woman. Rev. Cheryl Meachen’s sermon, titled, The Faith that Heals, will explore the roles of faith, fellowship and prayer in healing. The Children’s Time, titled, There Is Power in a Touch, will teach about the sense of touch and the connection based on the Mark text. Everyone is invited to bring friends, neighbors and family members who are in need of healing and fellowship. Kevin Mills will play the organ. Gender and God

fatherWorship this Sunday, June 21st at 10 am will celebrate Father’s Day. Scripture from Mark 4:35-41 will be read by Betty Stacy telling the story of Jesus calming the storm. Rev. Cheryl Meachen’s sermon, titled, Gender and God, will explore the tradition of viewing God as male and what it would mean to our spiritual life to view God as female or genderless. The Children’s Time, titled, Who’s in Your Boat, will teach about confident faith in the midst of the storms of life based on the Mark text. Everyone is invited to bring photos or mementos of their father to place on the altar for a special prayer. Kevin Mills will play the organ. Annual Blessing of the Bikes

13449_410971873048_549943048_4226683_7291240_nWorship this Sunday, June 14th at 10 am will celebrate our Sixth Annual Blessing of the Bikes with an uplifting, spirited service. Scripture from 1 Samuel 15:34-16:13 will be read by Jane Clarke which says, in part, “the LORD does not see as mortals see; they look on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart.’” Rev. Cheryl Meachen’s sermon, titled, Gangs, Tribes, Families, will explore the “us vs. them” herd mentality and the ways in which Jesus’ admonition to love neighbor can transform peer groups into the body of Christ. The Children’s Time, titled, Planting Seeds, will teach about growing the kingdom of God based on Mark 4. Kevin Mills will play the organ. After worship and fellowship, the church ladies will judge which motorcycle is the prettiest or sportiest and which riders are youngest, oldest, have come the furthest. Gift certificates from The Marina, Top of the Hill Grill and t-shirts from Vintage Steel and Full Throttle will be shared along with event decals and t-shirts. The bikers will leave for a group ride ending at The Tent, a Cornerstone Motorcycle Ministry on Route 9 in Antrim NH for a delicious lunch.
