Pentecost

PentecostWorship this Sunday, May 24th at 10 am will celebrate the holy day of Pentecost and will include scripture from Acts 2:1-21, read by Jane Clarke. Rev. Cheryl Meachen’s sermon, titled, Sparks Flew, will explore the ongoing creation of the church of Pentecost. The Children’s Time, titled, The Wind in Your Socks, will teach about the nature of the Holy Spirit and the making of wind socks. This date also marks Aldersgate Day, the anniversary of when founder John Wesley’s heart was “strangely warmed” in a deeply spiritual conversion experience. There will also be a celebration of Heritage Sunday inviting stories from the church’s history. The choir, directed by Jenny Hinton, will sing God Is In This Place. Parishioners are encouraged to wear red to symbolize the day. Kevin Mills will play the organ. The church is located at 18 Town Crier Drive off Putney Road and is handicap-accessible. Celebration of Hymns

hymns-of-the-faith_wide_tWorship this Sunday, May 17th at 10 am will be a celebration of hymns led by Council Chair, Patti French. Hymns and histories will be interspersed with musical scriptures and prayer. The Children’s Time, titled, Soli Gloria Deo, will teach about Bach writing those words which mean “for the glory of God” on each piece of music he wrote. Kevin Mills will play the organ. That Your Joy May Be Complete

mom_child.250w.tnWorship this Sunday, May 10th at 10 am will include scripture from John 15:9-17, read by Betty Stacy, sharing Jesus’ teaching about loving as God loves. Rev. Cheryl Meachen’s sermon, titled, That Your Joy May Be Complete, will explore the command to love neighbor, friend and family in a sacrificial way, even laying down life for others. The Children’s Time, titled, Show Your Love, will include an opportunity to create a Mothers’ Day card. Those attending are invited to bring flowers or pictures or objects to place on the altar to represent moms as a special Mothers’ Day prayer is offered.
